5 Months of Blogging – Celebrating With An Abstract Art Sale!!

to purchase this piece, which is 2′ x 3′, please contact me privately

I started this website exactly five months ago, on April 5th, 2021 with the intention of posting a new blog every five days, at 5 pm.

Fast-forward five months later and I’ve not posted anything in a month or so. Why? Well, there’s this little thing called “writers block“, which “at the best of times” is not good, but these are not the best of times.

Rather than put undue stress on myself by hitting a deadline I imposed on myself, I decided to just leave it be….knowing that when I had something to write about, I would.

So in the meantime I turned to other ways I like to distract myself with, to stay positive, and sane, and that’s by purging, cleaning, reorganizing……I find that that helps clear my mind and I feel less “heavy”.

And so, I came upon my wall art.

I first got into acrylic pouring in December of 2018. Winters here in Southwestern Ontario are long and I was watching a video on Youtube that my nieces had recommended to me about Japanese water art (or something like that).

Well, you know how Youtube works….there are videos queued up one after the other and immediately after the Japanese water art, another video auto-played and it was about acrylic pouring.

Bingo! I was mesmerized and immediately fell in love with this way of creating art!

I became obsessed and could hardly wait until after I finished work, and dinner, to get out the paints and all the supplies needed to create something new and unique! I lived in an apartment at the time, so at first my kitchen became my studio, and then as I started creating larger and larger pieces, I turned one of the bedrooms into my studio.

Once each piece was done, I would literally watch the paint dry. I’m not joking. Ok, some might say, “wow, you had a lot of time on your hands“….haha….and they’d be right….I did….but the reason I was watching the paintings dry is because with acrylic pours, the paint literally moves, and if the drying surface is even a little bit uneven, your painting will look different in the morning.

Every night I was making at least one painting….some nights I’d make three or four paintings. I’ve gifted several pieces and have sold some privately and during my garage sales.

Some of these WERE displayed in an art-show, from November 2019 to January 2020, but then we went into lockdown….and then another lockdown…..and then another lockdown….so the paintings have just been sitting in storage (don’t worry, the storage is at my sister’s house, in a safe, clean and dry environment).

I have two larger pieces, 2′ x 3′ (one of them is the “highlight photo” at the top of this page), but I’m not including them here (you can reach out to me privately if you’re interested in seeing the larger pieces) because I wanted to share here pieces all of the same size and dimension.

Each of these paintings is 16″ x 20″, on a slim-profile canvas, acrylic paints used, and signed on the back. I sign them on the back versus the front because they’re abstract, so they can be rotated to your liking, and therefore can be hung in at least four different ways.

Original price for these started at $150 and went up from there; sale price is shown below each painting and is in Canadian Dollars.

The techniques used: “Blow Out”, “Puddle Pour“, “Tree Ring Pour”, “Bottle Bottom Pour”, “Travelling Tree Ring Pour” and “Swipe“.

If you’d like close-up photos of any of these, please reach out to me privately via email and I’ll be happy to send them to you.

Please keep in mind, I only have ONE of each of these, they’re all originals, cannot be duplicated, and I won’t be creating any more paintings as my living situation has changed (and will change again in the spring), so I simply don’t have the space for a studio.

I should mention as well…..some of my paintings (including the ones above) have been used in the design of women’s fashion pieces, accessories and home decor. For more details, please contact me privately.
